Create listingWhat you need to know about Gaming Monitors
Three things that really make the difference in a monitor
- Panel type. TN is the fastest but weak on colors and viewing angles; IPS is the best for color and angles; VA gives the highest contrast but can smear in fast scenes. For competitive FPS, IPS or TN; for films and single-player games, VA or IPS.
- Refresh rate and response time. The difference between 144 Hz and 60 Hz is visible at first glance. But if your graphics card can’t produce that many frames, you won’t get the benefit of the high refresh rate; think about it together with your graphics card.
- Resolution and size. 1080p at 24 inches and 1440p at 27 inches are generally considered balanced. 1080p at 27 inches looks coarse up close because the pixel density drops.
Always check on a used monitor
- Dead pixel test. Show full-screen solid colors (black, white, red, green, blue) and scan the screen. Ask the seller for a video of this test.
- Backlight bleed. Show a fully black screen in a dark room; if the edges glow more than normal, you’ll see it.
- Burn-in / image retention. Check for static image traces on a plain gray screen.
- Ports and cables. The listing should say which cables are included; a high refresh rate needs the right cable.
- Stand and VESA. Is the stand included, and does it have VESA mounting holes?
Shipping, right of withdrawal and checking your delivery
- Who pays for shipping? It’s stated on the listing page; check before you order.
- Damaged package. If the box is crushed, torn or shows signs of having been opened, have the courier record a damage report on the spot. A damage claim without a report is much harder to pursue.
- Film the unboxing. Opening the package on one continuous video is the strongest evidence you have if the item is incomplete or damaged.
- Right of withdrawal. This is a physical product category, and the 14-day right of withdrawal applies from the moment the item reaches you. Custom-made items are excluded from this right; the full terms are set out in the purchase agreement.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 144 Hz monitor worth it?
Yes, if your graphics card can produce that many frames in the game; the difference is clear. If it can’t, you won’t get the full benefit of the high refresh rate.
Which panel type should I choose?
IPS or TN for competitive FPS, VA for contrast and films. IPS is the most balanced option for color and viewing angles.
How do I check a used monitor for dead pixels?
Show full-screen solid colors (black, white, red, green, blue) and scan the screen by eye. Ask the seller for a video of this test.
Is 1080p enough at 27 inches?
It looks coarse at close range because the pixel density drops. 1440p at 27 inches and 1080p at 24 inches are considered more balanced.
