What sets this category apart from account sales: the top-up is made with your in-game user ID. You don’t need to give anyone your password, and nobody logs in to your account.

• The only thing you’re asked for is your in-game ID. If a seller asks for a password, email or verification code, stop the transaction and report it.
• Check the ID twice. A top-up to the wrong ID can’t be reversed; it ends up on another player’s account. Copy the ID from the game before you type it on the order screen.
• Character name check. In most games the character name appears on screen when you enter the ID; use it to confirm the ID belongs to your character.

Before you order

• Server/region. In some games the same ID points to different accounts in different regions; the listing should say which region the top-up is for.
• Pack amount. Check that the amount in the listing matches the pack name in the game; bonus amounts change with promotions.
• Check after the top-up. Confirm delivery only after you see the balance in your account.
