In coaching, you don’t hand over your account
Coaching is built differently from boosting: the coach doesn’t play on your account. Lessons are given live, by screen sharing or by reviewing recordings. That’s why the risk that comes from account sharing doesn’t exist in coaching.
- A “coaching” listing that asks for account details isn’t coaching, whatever it’s called; report it.
- The lesson format should be stated in the listing: a live lesson, a recording review (VOD review), or both?
- Which platform the session will be held on, and whether you’ll get the recording, should be settled in advance.
Before you take a lesson
- Length and scope. How many minutes is a session, how many sessions are included, and are you given tasks in between?
- The coach’s field. Do they coach the game and role you play? General game knowledge and role knowledge are not the same thing.
- Your level. State your rank and what you want to fix from the start; the lesson is far more productive with that information.
- Recording. Ask for a recording of the lesson; watching it again later multiplies its value.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to give my account for coaching?
No. In coaching, the coach doesn’t play on your account; the lesson is given by live screen sharing or by reviewing recordings. Report any listing that asks for account details.
What’s the difference between coaching and boosting?
In boosting, the person providing the service plays; in coaching, you play and the coach teaches you. If you want to raise your rank for good, coaching is what you’re looking for.
How long is a lesson?
The length and number of sessions vary by listing; it should be stated in the listing description before you order.
Is my rank guaranteed to go up after the lesson?
No, and be careful with any listing that offers such a guarantee. Coaching builds skill; your own play decides the result.
